About our Riders

Sign riders are appropriately named, since they’re smaller signs that “ride” either above or below your larger, more permanent sign, and add additional information. They’re also a great way to advertise information that varies, such as dates, times, and statuses like “sold”, “for sale”, “under contract”, or “for lease”! You can even add an arrow on your rider to direct traffic. Multiple riders are usually used interchangeably with the same larger sign. With riders, you can install a big 4’x8’ commercial sign, keep all the important information on that sign panel, and then simply change the rider out to add additional information or updates!

FAQ's

"What are the normal sizes for sign riders?"
The most common sizes of sign riders are 6”x24” or 12”x43” riders.
"What rider sizes / sign sizes go together?"
The general rule of thumb is to get a rider that’s smaller in width than your main sign, or in some cases, the same width. For example, if you’re getting a 4x8 sign (48”x96”), you’d want to go for the 12”x43” rider! A 6”x24” would look way too small compared to a sign that big. However, for any smaller sizes, like our 32”x48” sign and our 2’x4’ (24”x48”), that’s exactly the size you’d want to go for! Something just big enough to add a quick bit of information at a glance, but not too big to overwhelm the amount of information you already have included on the main sign. For sizes like our 18”x24”, 32”x24”, and 2’x2’ (24”x24”) signs, using a rider of the same length works perfectly. In fact, that’s the most common size residential realtors use – an 18”x24” main sign with a 6”x24” rider hanging below or “riding” above the main sign.
"What industries normally use sign riders?"
Lots of industries use sign riders! When most people think of a rider, they tend to think of residential and commercial real estate riders – the common “sold” and “for lease” riders. While these are definitely the most prominent industries riders are used in, many other industries find them very useful, too! If you have a small retail business in a busy plaza, for example, you can stick small yard signs around the premises with “open now” or “Coming soon” riders on top! You could also add riders with arrows to direct potential customers to your store!
"Are sign riders a good substitute for decals?"
Yes! Many real estate agents actually prefer sign riders over the classic decal for their signs. Purchasing a sign rider and installing it on top or underneath your existing sign looks much more elegant and clean-cut, as opposed to slapping a huge “sold” sticker over your sign, covering up information (such as an agent’s name and phone number) that could have been seen by even more potential buyers! Tearing off that decal leaves a terrible glue residue as well, preventing you from being able to re-use that sign again and again. Getting a rider instead of a decal actually increases your bottom line!

Sign Care

Our signs are made to last, but if they get dirty, here’s how to clean and maintain them:
• Washing: Use warm soapy water and a soft sponge (nothing too abrasive) to clean your sign. This will help keep it free of dirt without scratching it.
• Spot Cleaning: Windex is great for spot cleaning and won’t harm the print.
• Rinsing Off: You can rinse your sign with a garden hose—our corrugated plastic won’t rust, even with well water.
• Drying: Let your sign air dry in the sun, or gently wipe it with a soft towel or paper towel.
What to Avoid: While mild soap and Windex are safe for cleaning, avoid using harsh chemicals like alcohol or bleach-based products. These can damage the print, weaken the vinyl backing, and break down the material over time. Don’t use cleaners like Clorox, Scrubbing Bubbles, mildew removers, Comet, Soft Scrub, or Lysol. If it's too strong for your car, it's too strong for your sign!

How to Install

There are multiple different ways to install your rider!
• Chains
Available for our 12”x48” riders only, our Rider Chains line up with the screw holes at the bottom of our PVC Post Kit tracks and are attached with screws, allowing your rider to swing just beneath.
• Top H Rider Holder
Goes on top of the sign and are inserted in the corrugation of your sign and the rider. For 4x4s, this will only work with a horizontal score. This will only work with signs with vertical flutes. (12”x48” riders require 2 Top Rider Holders)
• Rider Clamps
Attach to the top of your PVC Post Kit or Yard Arm Post. Attaches with VHB Tape, included with the order.
Remember, you can request holes (for 10mm signs) or brass-plated grommets (for 4mm signs) if you plan to hang your sign or attach it with zip ties. Alternatively, you can easily install it on a wall by drilling screws directly through the corrugated plastic.
